Stuart ended the final round of the French Grand Prix this weekend with another win under his belt. Stuart is delighted with his latest win which was in the Sprint Distance Format. He said " this was a tough one, my thoughts and attention weren't really in France to be honest as my Coach & Girlfriend, Michelle Dillon is in hopsital after undergoing major back surgery, however I knew she would want me to get the job done. She was so pleased for me when I told her about my win. I am hoiping Dallas will go just as well in a weeks time".

Winners Becky Lavelle & Stuart Hayes.

An article below from the chicago tribune newspaper.

Stuart Hayes already knew where part of his check for winning the Chicago Triathlon would go: the hospital.

After a swollen right knee caused the Englishman to take a $1,300, two-hour trip to the emergency room Saturday evening, the pain and swelling mysteriously subsided and Hayes became Sunday's improbable winner in 1 hour 48 minutes 9.2 seconds.

"The doctor told me to take off two weeks," Hayes said. "I guess he's not going to like that I didn't listen."

Hayes, 29, considers the victory a breakthrough after 10 years of competing in triathlons with few major victories. His last major win came in 2005 in his hometown of London.

Strong performance coming off New york.

Stuart Hayes today finished 3rd in the British Championships, With a strong Field and The Olympic Athletes having there last hit out before Bejing it was always going to be tough. But again Stu showed his consistancy and was pushing the pace at the front of the race. A pack of 8 guys came off the bike and on the run Will clarke was in great form coming off a training camp in spain. Will split the run up and only Stu hung on at the half way mark. The fast finishing Tim Don managed to pass Stuart for 2nd place but a strong performance by Stuart considering he only raced New york city triathlon 6 days ago made up the podium. Stuart's next race will be the London Triathlon in two weeks.

LIFE TIME FITNESS TRIATHLON

July 12th

Stuart has just finished 4th in the first race of the Life Time fitness series. Stu finally pulled off a solid result after a few rough patches leading into his previous race in Des Monies world cup only 2 weeks earlier. Suffering with a bout of food poisoning which put stu's hope's further back.

However at the weekend Stu showed his strength and fnished behind a strong trio. The winner was  2000 Olympic Champion Simon Whitfield, then American Andy Potts and Last years LTF series winner Greg Bennett. Stu now focuses on this weekend's race in NEW YORK CITY. He is very excited and enjoying the non-drafting style of racing.

The Mazda Blenheim Triathlon

In front of friends, family and fans, yesterday (Sun 8th June) Stuart became The Mazada Blenheim Triathlon Champion. Stuart had a fantastic race, proving the good form he is in. Stuart is delighted with his win and said "this is a great race to win, I'm really happy with how my training is going. My coach and I (Michelle Dillon - teamdilloncoaching.com) have been working really hard to get things right. I'm now looking forward to flying to the States tomorrow to prepare for the ITU World Cup race Des Moines. If last years race is anything to go by, it's going to be a tough race. The hot and humid conditions are testing and with a large cheque and a Hummer waiting at the end for the Winner, it's going to be fast!!".

The Mazada Blenheim Triathlon will be televised on Channel 4 in the next few weeks.

Olympic Trials in Madrid

It was one of those days on Sunday 25th May at the ITU World Cup in Madrid, where luck didn't strike for Stuart. After a great swim, where Stuart exited the water in 3rd place, Stu sat comfortably in the lead pack on the bike. The athletes were challenged with all sorts of weather. At one stage they battled with torrential rain and thunder storms. This didn't help the leaner athletes as they could not stay warm and one by one athletes had to pull the pin. On the 4th lap of the bike Stu had a rear wheel puncture and borrowed a wheel from another competitor who had already retired from the race. Stuart lost 2 mins in the change over and continued to chase hard to catch the pack, when he realised that he had another puncture, this time in the front wheel. This time too far away from the wheel stop, Stuart had to ride on his rims before taking the decision to retire from the race with extreme disappointment. Stuart said "I was really disappointed to have gone out of this race this way. I came into the race in the best form of my career and was having a great day out there, feeling on top of everything, before the punctures came. Although I am disappointed right now, I know it will make me more determined later on in the season to do something else. So now I have to make another race my Olympic Games". After re-evaluating his plans, Stu now focuses on Des Moines ITU World Cup and some of the non drafting races in the USA as well as some domestic races, like his good old favourite - The London Triathlon.

So Beijing wasn't to be, but whose to say we won't see Stu on home soil at the games in 2012!

Another strong performance from Stuart at New Plymouth World Cup

Stuart finished 9th this weekend in a fast and furious race at the New Plymouth World Cup. Stu had an average swim for him, but managed to gain a minutes lead off the bike with a group that did not include the two pre race favourites, Gomez and Brad K. With the running getting faster at every race , the two favourites didn't take long to mow down the leaders very quickly. By the 4km mark Gomez had hit the lead. Stu hung on well, running in 7th position for most of the way, he got caught by two athletes at the line and ended up with a respectable 9th.

Stuart now goes away to prepare for the British Olympic Selection race - Madrid World Cup on Sunday 25th May, he also has a French Grand Prix race the week before, which will be his next race....

Stuart returns to the UK very shortly.... I hope he's prepared for the very cold spring weather!

Mooloolaba ITU World Cup

Wow I was amazed at the level already at the first ITU World Cup of the season in Mooloolaba at the weekend. With it being an Olympic year the bar is being raised yet again.

The pace was on from the gun as we ran into the sea from a beach start. I had a good start but I made a mistake on the side I started on as I found myself amongst the madness at the first buoy. I exited the water in the first half of the field and had a great transition. I then worked hard at the beginning of the bike to get myself into the first bike pack. It wasn't long before all the packs emerged into one and we were then one big pack barring a few stragglers.

It was chaotic coming into transition but I managed to get out fast, running up the first hill in the lead group which included the eventual winner Xavier Gomez and consistent World Cup podium finisher Brad K. I was having a strong run and hung in for a solid 12th place, which is the best start I have had to the season in a long time. For me this means there should be a lot more to come. I'm pleased with the way I raced and am looking forward to another good performance this weekend in New Zealand at the ITU WC New Plymouth. I'm hoping I can get closer to the podium this weekend. I will keep you posted.

Stuart mounts the podium for the last French Grand Prix of the season.

Stuart came third in La Baule, the last French Grand Prix of the season, helping to secure an overall series win for his French Team - Racing Club de France.

This is another excellent result for Stuart and boasts well for his next race the ITU World Cup Rhodes on October 7th. Watch this space....

Beijing ITU World Cup

Stuart came home 13th in the Beijing World Cup that will host next years Olympic Games Triathlon. It was a strong field with challenging conditions, where most athletes were competing for Olympic spots for their own countries. Our British Triathlon Federations Olympic requirement for automatic selection was top 3. Although Stuart did not qualify this year, he looks ahead to a good winters training and qualification in 2008. Stuart said " I have learnt a lot this year, and am keen to put this into practice for the 2008 season. I have the long winter ahead, where I will be working hard to get a good base. I'm really pleased with my progress in 2007".

Stuart has a blast at the Worlds

Stuart proved he's in tip top condition at the World Triathlon Championships last weekend. After a tough swim, that was very rough Stuart worked hard on the bike. Half of the mens field were in a pack together on the bike and Stuart spent the duration of the bike at the front keen not to let anyone get away without him. Going out onto the run Stuart had confidence in his ability to stay up the front. His run training has been going really well and he knew he could hang on. After an outstanding run Stuart finished 8th. This is a fantastic result for Stuart and sets him up for his next race, the ITU World Cup Beijing. Beijing is an Olympic Qualifier and Stuart now focuses on another excellent performance.

Stuart came home 2nd this weekend after an excellent weekend of racing at The Michelob Ultra London Triathlon. After a quick swim where Ben Samson pushed the pace, Stuart had a swift transition from swim to bike. A large group of riders quickly formed which included World Champion Tim Don. From bike to run Stuart knew it was going to be really quick. Stuart ran on Tim's heels for 5km, trying hard to stick to Tim's surges.
Stuart is really pleased with his result and said "I am so pleased to be on the podium again at The London Triathlon. This is my favourite race, the atmosphere is awesome and the home crowds really lift you and urge you to keep going, I had my friends and family there cheering me on too. I really enjoyed the weekend and I hope the 12,000 other competitors also had a fun weekend of triathlon and racing".
Stuart now heads to France for some training with his coach and fellow friends and athletes Will Clarke and Alistair Brownlee. His next race is this coming weekend, in the French Grand Prix.

Stuart gets 9th in Salford
Stuart was amongst a strong field of athletes this weekend for the 10th ITU World Cup of the season in Salford, Manchester. After a fast wetsuit swim Stuart exited the water in the front pack and made his way quickly through tranisiton one. The bike was an 8 lap course and a large Peloton of riders quickly formed up front. Stuart tried hard to get away, attacking at every opportunity. His determination paid off towards the end of the bike as he and a few other riders managed to get away. However this was a little too late and it was now clear that it was going to be a runners race, with the fastest on foot taking the win. The run pace was fast and furious and Stuart dug deep to take 9th place.
Stuart now focuses on the rest of his season and says "things are moving in the right direction, and i'm pleased with how my training's going"
